2022 Woman of Excellence – Roseann Schmid, PE

Congratulations to our CEO Roseann Schmid, P.E. on being named as one of the Rochester Business Journal’s 2022 Women of Excellence honorees. Honorees were selected by an outside panel of judges based on their professional experience, community involvement, and commitment to inspiring change.
As CEO of Fisher Associates, Roseann Schmid has made a name for herself as a well-respected leader guiding the organization through a period of strong growth and service diversification. Schmid’s peers praise her problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, practical leadership, and desire to help others.
Schmid joined Fisher Associates in 2007 as a part-time project manager and quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the firm’s highway group manager and director of transportation before being named CEO in 2018.
“Being a woman CEO of a professional design services firm that is not a woman-owned business is not very common in the male-dominated industry and rising to this position from a part-time project manager is even less common” she said.
She has worked on several award-winning projects during her career, including the Irondequoit Bay Outlet seasonal swing bridge. Schmid received her bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clarkson University and is a certified Professional Engineer in New York State. A Rochester native, she gives back to her community through initiatives like the Fisher FACT program at Edison Career and Technology High School, where students are exposed to technical careers. Schmid also recently led an initiative with other firms to collect, package and deliver toiletries to over 1,500 area veterans during the holiday season.
