Fisher Associates led the design and delivery of the Autism Nature Trail (ANT), a first-of-its-kind, fully accessible trail experience tailored for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Set within the natural beauty of Letchworth State Park, the one-mile ADA-compliant loop features eight thoughtfully designed stations that support a range of sensory and physical experiences. The trail promotes comfort, exploration, and engagement through tactile, auditory, and visual elements, while also offering quiet “alone zones” for reflection. Fisher guided the project from concept through construction, coordinating stakeholders and preserving the surrounding forest to maintain an immersive natural setting. The result is an inclusive, award-winning destination that expands access to the outdoors for all.
