Fisher Associates led the redesign of Binghamton University’s Central Quad, transforming a four-acre campus hub into a more vibrant, functional, and resilient public space. The project focused on enhancing circulation, establishing strong visual focal points, and creating flexible gathering areas to support a wide range of student activities. Improvements included reconfigured walkways for better connectivity, a signature granite infinity fountain, and bio-retention features to support sustainable stormwater management. The design also incorporated lighting, sculpture, and durable pavement systems capable of supporting large campus events such as Spring Fling. The revitalized space, now known as the Harpur Quad, honors the legacy of the Harpur College of Arts and Sciences.
