The Scajaquada Corridor has long functioned as a major transportation artery through the heart of the Buffalo Niagara region, but its auto-oriented design created persistent safety concerns, divided adjacent neighborhoods, and limited equitable access to parks, jobs, and daily destinations. Addressing these challenges required more than a single infrastructure fix; it demanded a shared, community-driven vision for the corridor’s future. To help transform this legacy corridor into a unifying regional asset, Fisher Associates applied an integrated planning approach that aligned transportation engineering, land use strategy, environmental restoration, and park improvements with community priorities. Through robust, place-based engagement and data-driven scenario planning, Fisher helped build consensus around solutions that improve mobility, reconnect neighborhoods, and support a healthier, more equitable, and resilient Buffalo Niagara region.
