7-span historic concrete arch bridge (1920)

40-ft-wide deck with multi-use trail and pedestrian walkway

Award-winning historic preservation project

Originally constructed in 1920, the Centerway Arch Bridge serves as a vital connection between the Corning Museum of Glass and the Historic Market Street District. Preserving this seven-span, concrete arch structure required a thoughtful balance of structural rehabilitation and historic integrity. Fisher Associates performed a comprehensive hands-on inspection and service life assessment to identify deterioration and guide design solutions. The final design enhanced structural performance while integrating a multi-use trail, pedestrian walkways, and green space to create a park-like setting. Historic elements were preserved and complemented with interpretive features, improving both function and user experience while maintaining the bridge’s role as a community centerpiece.
