The South Lyon Street Bridge Replacement addressed the full reconstruction of an aging and deteriorated structure that had been closed to traffic and could no longer be rehabilitated. Replacing the existing bridge required not only a new, durable crossing but also a rethinking of roadway alignment to improve safety and connectivity at the intersection with South Main Street. Fisher Associates designed a single-span modified Warren thru truss bridge that accommodates two travel lanes, pedestrian access, and utility infrastructure within a constrained corridor. Located within a flood zone, the design carefully balanced hydraulic requirements with limited profile flexibility due to nearby development. Extensive utility coordination and right-of-way acquisition further shaped the project, resulting in a resilient, low-maintenance structure that enhances mobility and long-term performance.
