Quick Facts:

Surveyed 462-acre campus with over 6.5 miles of roadway and 1,200 utility structures

Established primary control network using eight GPS receivers for high-accuracy mapping

Included 75 acres of parking, 110 acres of buildings, and subsurface utility quality level B designations

As part of the University at Buffalo’s UB 2020 Master Plan, Fisher Associates completed a comprehensive campus-wide survey and base mapping effort to support future development and infrastructure planning. Covering a 462-acre site, the project required the establishment of a robust horizontal and vertical control network using eight GPS receivers, coordinated with subconsultants to ensure precision and consistency. This control framework guided detailed topographic and utility surveys across a complex campus environment. Fisher also managed subsurface utility engineering to incorporate quality level B utility designations, delivering an accurate and reliable dataset. The resulting base mapping provided a critical foundation for planning, design, and phased implementation of improvements across the university campus.
