Fisher Associates worked in cooperation with the City of Rochester and the prime consultant to support the proposed environmental cleanup activities of two City-owned sites at 24 and 32 York Street. These sites were in the Bull’s Head Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) on the west side of Rochester. In 2020, Fisher was initially engaged by the City to prepare the Bull’s Head BOA Revitalization Plan, which was later designated by the NYS Department of State in 2021. Subsequently, the City enlisted Fisher’s help to secure grant assistance, leading to the award of a $400,000 U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Cleanup Grant for the remediation of 24 and 32 York Street, as part of a larger planned mixed-use development.

As part of the grant award, Fisher provided public outreach and brownfield marketing assistance to the City and its prime consultant. The support included the following activities:

  • Preparing and updating a community stakeholder list.
  • Developing a Citizen Participation Plan to guide the outreach process.
  • Planning and facilitating public information meetings.
  • Creating meeting notices, fact sheets, flyers, and presentations.
  • Preparing newsletters to inform the public about the status of completed cleanup activities.
