Project Story
The South Aud Block project involves a one and a half acre site that is part of the larger canalside complex in downtown Buffalo. The project site is bounded by Main Street to the east and Marine Drive to the south. The north and west sides have been developed as a water feature and winter skating rink replicating the original Erie Canal and commercial (boat) slip. Three individual building sites have been created by the reestablishment of historic Lake Street and Lloyd Street.
Fisher Associates is teamed with FFAE Architects of Orchard Park to prepare final architectural and civil engineering plans for the project. These plans include the Explore & Move Children’s Museum, a restaurant, office and retail mixed-use building, and a separate information center. Fisher Associates is responsible for the environmental assessment, geotechnical investigation, site design, and civil engineering of the project. Site amenities include the lower Tow Path, streetscape design, and mile marker “0” plaza the historic point of the beginning of the 1800s Erie Canal.
