Farmington Compressor Station Data Management

Project Story

Fisher Associates was selected to provide GIS data management services to National Fuel Gas for their natural gas compressor station construction. With tight deadlines and thousands of feet of pipe to install, National Fuel Gas needed a team that could assure the data being collected in the field was both complete and correct.

This project began with Fisher Associates creating mobile data collection tools for the field inspectors to use. These forms were a part of ensuring compliance with the Public Service Commission as well as being able to be loaded into the company’s large and complex Arc Pipeline Data Model (APDM).

Throughout the project, Fisher Associates utilized the many reporting tools created to both validate material specifications being installed and generate statistics such as number of failed welds. If there were any questions with specifications, these were addressed in a timely enough fashion to keep the project moving. In addition, the reporting tools ensured a successful on-site Public Services Commission audit.

At the end of the project, Fisher Associates formatted the data in a manner that allowed it to be loaded successfully into the client’s master APDM. This process involves many tools that have been developed by Fisher Associates over the years.

As we continue to work together, both Fisher and Nation Fuel Gas have developed a collaborative relationship, where ideas and suggestions for new tools and applications are being discussed openly and regularly.
