Project Story
Fisher Associates performed site engineering and landscape architectural services for the renovation of two dormitories (Waterbury Hall and Scales Hall) at the Lakeside community, as well as Funnelle Hall, on the campus of SUNY Oswego. Improvements consisted of new stairs, ramps, and lighting at the building entries, decorative stone walls, new plantings, and utility upgrades. Green infrastructure practices were utilized for these LEED projects, including rain garden planters and bio-swales to provide filtration for stormwater runoff prior to reaching the shores of Lake Ontario.
Fisher Associates worked with King + King Architects, DASNY, and SUNY Oswego to execute a design that is consistent with the vision of the campus. Many of the proposed site improvements for the dormitory renovations are consistent with the environmental sustainability components highlighted in the College’s “Climate Action Plan 2012”.
These projects have included design studies that analyzed typical user movements throughout the space. Special attention was paid to maintenance and operations as the projects seek to implement creative design solutions that are responsive to facility department needs.
