Project Story

The South Buffalo Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) is an approximately 2,000-acre site located south of the Buffalo River and adjacent to the Lake Erie shoreline. This area is noted for its former industrial properties that present an immense opportunity for the City of Buffalo and the Buffalo-Niagara region. Our team was responsible for advancing the recommendations of the Step 2 Nomination Study into implementation projects to help the community achieve its long-term vision for the area.

Fisher Associates was responsible for refining the strategic sites identified during prior planning efforts, conducting significant public outreach using conventional and non-conventional engagement techniques, updating the existing conditions analysis, conducting transportation analyses, preparing cost estimates for transportation infrastructure improvements (including trail connections at Tifft Nature Preserve, Hartman Play Fields, new trails at Riverbend, and Al-Tifft, and for green infrastructure), and assisting property owners with the Phase II Environmental Site Assessment application process.
