Fisher Associates was the lead consultant on this SUCF project to rehabilitate the North Quad, an essential part of SUNY Oneonta’s Upper Campus Academic Core. The Quad features landscaped social spaces framed by formal pedestrian walkways accessing the four major academic halls.

Our Landscape Architects worked with the college to redesign the Quad to encourage social activity. Curved wooden benches, stone seating walls and attractive all-season interest plantings create an inviting environment for gathering and socializing. The outdoor rooms created by the design are actively used by faculty for classes. High quality materials such as bluestone, wooden seat benches, granite pavement, and cobble sidewalk edging were used to ensure longevity and reduced maintenance. The central open paved plaza space has permanent tent anchors and power and is utilized for commencement and alumni gatherings.

As part of the college’s goal to decrease stormwater loads, runoff from the entire roof of Fine Art Building (63,000 SF) was disconnected from the stormwater system and redirected into a system of bioretention basins and sub-surface storage within the project.
