In response to a generous vision from a respected alumnus to build a memorial plaza to honor his late wife Paula, also an alumna, Fisher Associates’ was selected for the detailed design and construction documentation for the new Paula Agrusa Plaza at the University at Buffalo.
This commemorative project serves as a gateway to the University’s north campus, creating a welcoming entrance and providing outdoor learning environments and socialization spaces for faculty, students, and visitors.

Through collaborative efforts with University staff, various amenities were selected for integration to the plaza, including a fire pit, an event space with an overhead canopy, WiFi, charging stations, diverse seating options, an amphitheater space, and innovative snow melt and lighting systems for enhanced functionality and aesthetics. Paula Agrusa Plaza embodies the spirit of unity and commemoration, fostering a sense of community among the University and its alumni.
