We are proud to share that Village Grove in Trumansburg, NY has been named Upstate Project of the Year by the New York State Association for Affordable Housing; a recognition that reflects the meaningful impact this new community is already having on residents and the region.
As the landscape architect for Village Grove, Fisher Associates helped develop a vision centered on connections to nature, the surrounding neighborhood, and the everyday experiences that make a community feel like home. Our team led the site’s open-space planning, guided a landscape framework that supports both people and the environment, developed detailed construction documents, provided construction-phase support to ensure the design intent came to life exactly as it was imagined, and led the SEQR process and entitlements for the project.
Completed in December 2024, this 19-acre mixed-use, mixed-income community features 46 affordable rental units, ten for-sale townhomes offered through a shared-equity trust model, a new Trumansburg Community Nursery School and a new public road that enhances connectivity. Every element was shaped with long-term community benefit in mind.
Village Grove achieved both Passive House certification and NetZero energy performance, setting a new standard for sustainable, community-focused housing in New York State. These achievements reflect a shared commitment among project partners and align deeply with Fisher’s dedication to designing places where people and planet thrive together.
